Stewart Dankner

Stewart Dankner’s lifelong passion for purebred dogs began in his childhood, growing up in a home filled with Standard Dachshunds, Irish Setters, mixed breeds, and Rhodesian Ridgebacks. This early exposure to the world of dogs laid the foundation for a lifetime dedicated to breeding, showing, and nurturing excellence in purebred dogs.

In 1992, Stewart and his wife, Jacquie, acquired their first Rhodesian Ridgeback, marking the beginning of Cedarpoint Ridgebacks. Since then, Cedarpoint has become synonymous with quality, producing numerous Canadian and US champions, specialty winners, coursing champions, tracking and hunting dogs, and, above all, exceptional family companions. Stewart’s hands-on approach to breeding has emphasized not only conformation but also temperament and versatility, ensuring Cedarpoint dogs excel in both the show ring and as loyal companions.

Stewart has extensive experience across a variety of canine disciplines. He has taught handling classes, competed in obedience trials, and exhibited multiple breeds, including Dobermans, Rottweilers, Shelties, and Salukis. His comprehensive understanding of canine development, from evaluating litters in the whelping box to showcasing finished champions, has made him a trusted resource within the dog community.

In 2004, Stewart embarked on a judging career that reached its pinnacle in 2023 with his attainment of All-Breed Status. Over the years, he has judged at many prestigious events across Canada, the United States, and internationally. His judging highlights include presiding over National Specialties for Rhodesian Ridgebacks, Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers, Shapendoes, Bloodhounds, and Vizslas. Stewart’s commitment to fostering new talent in the sport is evident in his dedicated work with Junior Handlers, helping shape the next generation of competitors.

One of his most significant achievements came with his selection to judge the 2025 National Specialty for the Rhodesian Ridgeback Club of the United States, an honor that reflects his expertise and respect within the breed’s global community.

Beyond his contributions as a breeder and judge, Stewart has a keen interest in canine health, with a particular focus on Canine Anesthesia and Canine Bleeding Disorders. He also plays an active role in the Canadian dog world, serving as Chairperson of the Canadian Kennel Club Breeder Relations Committee, Vice President of the Oakville and District Kennel Club, and Assistant Show Director for the club. Additionally, he shares his knowledge through teaching show handling classes at the Swansea Dog Obedience Club in Toronto.

Stewart and Jacquie live in Toronto, where they share their home with their beloved Ridgebacks, Lucy and Lily. They are proud parents to two grown sons, Ben and Josh, and continue to dedicate their lives to the advancement of purebred dogs through Cedarpoint Ridgebacks and their wider contributions to the sport.
